The Hesperia vineyard is located in Tumbarumba, NSW. This is a high altitude, cold climate area in the western foothills of the Snowy Mountain ranges. It has long cold winters with frequent snow, followed by warm summer days and cool nights. The basis of this cool climate Chardonnay from Tumbarumba is the expression of citrus fruit integrated with subtle yet stylish battonage (lees aging) and seasoned oak nuances expressed as layers of complexity consistent both in the aroma and palate.
Hungerford Hill is proud to release its 2020 Hunter Valley Fiano. Pale straw-yellow in colour with aromas of mandarin and garden herbs, this textural wine finishes with a refreshing lemon acidity for which our Fiano is well known for.
Vermentino hails from Italy’s Liguria region and the Mediterranean Islands of Sardinia and Corsica. Vermentino thrives in the warm climate of the Lower Hunter Valley with its thick skins and vibrant acidity. The wines are light to medium bodied with a textured palate. Produced from the St. Vernay Vineyard below the Hungerford Hill Cellar Door, it was handpicked and ‘wild’ fermented with natural yeast in older barriques; adding fabulous texture and weight to the quince and lime aromas.
Bright mid gold with green hues, the lifted bouquet displays rich dried apricots with a lime marmalade character. A luscious and rich palate shows beautifully integrated toasty oak with lemon citrus acidity to balance the richness and finish clean.
The Earlybird Series are wines picked and bottled early to capture the right balance of youthful fresh fruit flavours & sweetness that is ideal for early drinking.
The Earlybird Moscato is highly aromatic, light in alcohol and displays a fresh, lively & spritzy palate balanced with sweet fruit flavours which is best served slightly chilled.
Hungerford Hill Liqueur Tawny is made from very ripe red grapes and carefully selected brandy spirit. It has matured in small oak barrels in our cellar to develop the characteristic ‘rancio’ character of aged Tawny, with a complex, luscious palate and intense fruitcake flavour.
The palate is in the Hunter Valley medium bodied style and does not disappoint with lashings of juicy cherry fruit integrated with fine tannins throughout the palate and a fresh lingering acidity. The wine is combination of flavour, softness and lightness. Sourced from our St Vernay Vineyard in the heart of Pokolbin, this is a wine forever entwined with it's roots.
Deep purple red with a nose of chocolate, earthy spice and blood plum, this follows with an incredibly smooth creamy palate with blackberry and plum fruit and dense supple tannins and a long fruit dominated finish.
“Medium to deep red colour with a good tint of purple. The bouquet shows some graphite, coal-dust and char-oak, while the palate is rich and soft, the flavour deliciously detailed and long-lasting, with superb harmony and seamlessness. A stunning shiraz that drinks wonderfully well now but has plenty up its sleeve. Wow!” – Huon Hooke
