The 2007 vintage enjoyed warm summer conditions, perfect for maturing rich ripe Shiraz. The end result is generous blackberry & plum with "Hunter" savoury characters of spice and earth, balanced carefully with 60% American & 40% French oak management.

This wine has luscious primary fruit and a great tannin structure to ensure it will age gracefully and reward the patient few.

The Hunter Valley is Australia’s premium Shiraz region. Considered one of the greatest vintages in the Hunter Valley. The warm and dry 2014 vintage resulted in beautifully ripe pristine fruit.

A captivating and harmonious fusion of two iconic grape varieties, combined with the influence of both the specific vineyard site and the winemaker's expertise.

In appearance, the wine would likely showcase a deep, rich colour that hints at the concentration and potential complexity within. The 2021 vintage, marked by its own climatic conditions, would have shaped the wine's hue and overall character.

On the nose, this blend offers a symphony of aromas that balance the characteristics of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Shiraz component contributes intense dark fruit notes, possibly blackberries and plums, along with hints of pepper and spice. The Cabernet Sauvignon, on the other hand, brings to the blend cassis, dark cherry, and possibly even subtle herbal nuances. These aromatic elements are enhanced by the French oak, offering additional layers of vanilla, toast, and a touch of smokiness.

As the wine graces the palate its complexity and structure would shine. The skin tannins and the aging in French oak, provide a balanced framework, offering both grip and finesse. Sweetwater Estate vineyard grapes are hand-picked on land that has been the setting since 1844, for one of the oldest known vineyard sites in the Lower Hunter Valley.

The small Semillon vineyard at Sweetwater Estate is located on the gentle slopes beneath the main building on clay loam soils giving the Sweetwater semillon a unique florally, citrus profile.  It is much more approachable while young than its sandy river, flat grown siblings.

Grown in ancient soils, nourished by local clear waters and blessed by Australia’s abundant and constant sunshine, this Sweetwater Estate Semillon is produced in typical Hunter Valley style without oak influence.

Harvested in the cool of early morning, before sunrise, the juice was quickly pressed and fermented using wild yeast populations .

"An aromatic, robust yet classically styled shiraz with outstanding fruit concentration and class. Deeply coloured, it holds its cards close to its chest at first but, with air, it becomes magnificent. Plush, inky blood plums are wrapped in a matrix of complex tannins that build from the mid-palate. Adding intrigue is a faint sanguine note, along with fragrant potpourri and dried dark cherry. It is a dark and serious wine of character and depth destined to evolve beautifully with time. Decant vigorously if drinking young."

A 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sweetwater Estate is a wine that embodies both the distinct character of its terroir and the impact of the vintage. The terra rossa soils, known for their rich mineral content and drainage properties, have undoubtedly contributed to shaping this Cabernet Sauvignon's unique expression.

In appearance, the wine showcases a deep, garnet color that has matured with grace over the years. The 2010 vintage, marked by its own set of climatic conditions, has lent a certain sophistication to the wine's hue, offering a visual hint at the wine's maturity and complexity.

The aroma of this Cabernet Sauvignon is a symphony of both primary and secondary characteristics. The terra rossa soils have played their part in giving rise to intense blackcurrant and possibly dark cherry notes, which are classic hallmarks of Cabernet Sauvignon. Alongside these fruit-driven aromas, you find hints of cedar, tobacco, and possibly dried herbs. These secondary aromas, resulting from aging and interaction with oak, add layers of depth and complexity to the nose.

As the wine graces the palate, its maturity is more pronounced. The tannins, once firm, have softened with age, resulting in a smoother and more integrated structure. The rich fruit flavours observed on the nose carry over to the palate, joined by nuances of earthiness and perhaps even a touch of leather or cigar box, which are indicative of a well-aged Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Sweetwater Estate Cabernet blocks grown on the red clay loam over weathered limestone were picked in late February. The cool 2022 vintage resulted in beautifully ripe and pristine fruit. Deep red with blackberry, sage and cassis aromas and a fleshy palate with fine grained tannins.

The Sweetwater Estate Shiraz and Cabernet blocks were picked over the course of several days in February. The 2023 vintage resulted in beautifully ripe and dynamic fruit. Deep red with plum, blackberry, sage and cassis aromas with fine grained tannins.
